McLain shoulder injured - Every option on the table

McLain had an MRI that "showed something".  And apparently the options range from being ready by opening day to surgery.  So not good.

This (in my opinion) opens things up for some outfielders for the Reds.  If we need a 2nd baseman, we really don't have one in minors ready to go.  But we have TWO in Steer and Jonathan India.

If one of both move back to infield, that may open a spot for Thompson, Dunn or Hinds.

Now they are saying he's starting h season on the IL.  Sounds like surgery is still a possibility. Could be lost for year (like Arroyo) if that happens.

Reds, in anticipation, made a trade. he Reds traded for Toronto Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal, dealing pitching prospect Chris McElvain.    Espinal is primarily a defensive backup who can play all 3 infield positions. McElvain hadn't showed much. And we have great starting depth.

That fills out the 40 man roster. However several guys might go on it. Friedl, possibly McLain.

Getting a 2nd opinion from  Dr. Neal ElAttrache.  This has all the soundings of "out for the year".

"Final" answer. He had surgery, but they think they might be able to still play this season. Obviously going to be a long time.

Moved to the 60 Day IL to make room for Yosver Zulueta.
