Minor League Game Thread for Sunday, April 10, 2022

Louisville - It only took 5 games for the Bats to slide comfortably into the cellar. Hitting - The team has scored just 13 runs over the course of the first five contests. They are sporting a .605 OPS, and are still seeking their first stolen base of the season.  Pitching - 5.40 ERA. 1.71 WHIP. You get the picture.

Blake Lively is bookending this 6-game set. In my dreams. Let's try Ben Lively. He pitched a solid 5 innings in the season opener, allowing just one run.

JT Riddle (1.134 OPS), TJ Friedl (.900 OPS) and Ronnie Dawson (.850 OPS) are hitting well. The rest of meh at best, but mostly bleh.

After the game, Kids will be on the field doing something that few Bats have done in 2022 - running the bases.

Game time - 1:05 EDT.

Chattanooga - The Lookouts are also holding up the league at 0-2.

Who knows who will be on the mound for Chattanooga. They are very secretive about naming a starting pitcher for some reason.

The team has not had a runner cross home plate during the first two games. Someone has to score today. Name that inning.

Game time - 2:00 EDT.

Dayton - The Dragons will be on the field for a pair after yesterday's snowout. They are 1-0 in 2022.

Andrew Abbott will take the ball in Game One. He was the Reds' second-pick in 20021. He struck out 15.23 per game in limited action during 2021.

Big Jim Marinan will pitch the second game.

Game time - 1:05. The second game will start 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.

Daytona - The Tortugas are also look for their first win.

Julian Aguiar is on the mound for Daytona. 2021 was his first year in pro ball, and he was used out of the pen. He K'd opposing batters at a 14.54/9 clip in Arizona.

Hayden Jones (.500 BA) and Jay Allen II (.375 BA) are off to a hot start.

Austin Hendrick has been up to bat 9 times, and has come up empty in 6 of them. He is still looking for his first hit, but has drawn one walk.

Tortugas' batters have struck out 33 times in 2 games. Ouch!

Game time 5:35 EDT.

Speaking of ouch.....  Ben Lively hits the first 2 batters in Louisville.  He then gets a DP on a 3-2 pitch but then things get spicy again when Garlick walks.  He K's Fisher to end the trouble.

Looks like maybe Marinan is actually pitching Game 1 in Dayton.  Robert Hassel (big time prospect takes Marninan deep)  1-0.

And then Mears takes him deep  2-0.

That's all the damage.

Payback is a bitch. Cedrola gets hit leading off for Bats. Advances on wild pitch. Friedl grounds out.  Runner advances. Lopez walks on 4 straight. Wild pitch and Cedrola scores.  And then a walk on a close pitch.  Bats with furious rally without a hit.  Lopez steals third.

Amburgey K's swinging.  But WAIT.... it gets by catcher and another run scores !!  And then Dawson swings and is really out. Riddle  grounds out on first pitch.  Swinging against a guy who has trouble finding the strike zone.

De la Cruz strikes out leading off for Dayton. Hinds down swinging too. Martinez down swinging also.  Yikes.

Lively gives up a double down the LF line to open 2nd.  And then a looping double down the RF line. 2-1.  And then a single to score another.  2-2. And another double makes it 3-2.

Louisville - The silver lining is that the Bats offense has been ultra-efficient today. They have procured 4 runs on just two hits. The bad news? Pretty much everything else. They trail 7-4. Err, make that 9-4 now.

Ben Lively went 4 innings and was charged for 5 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 3 batters.
Zach Godley has been roughed up for 4 runs (including 2 homers) in 2/3rds of an inning. Walk, homer. Walk, homer. It's a new dance step that, hopefully, doesn't catch on in the Reds minor league system.

Lorenzo Cedrolla has been pretty much the entire offense for Louisville. He has walked, homered (1), scored twice and driven in a pair.

Chattanooga - The Lookouts broke their 2022 schneid as Mike Siani homered to lead off the game.

Brandon Williamson is taking a beating - 4 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks, 1 home run in two innings on the mound.

Siani homered.
Matt McLain doubled and came around to score.

'Nooga trails 4-2.

Dayton - The Dragons are well on their way to dropping the opener today. They are behind 6-2 with 5 in the books.

James Marinan was charged with giving up all 6 runs in 3 innings pitched. Three home runs were socked by the TinCaps.
Evan Kravetz seems to be in the bullpen as of right now. He sparkled in his stint. Two hitless innings with 5 strike outs.
Jake Stevenson has come on to pitch the 6th.

Nick Quintana walked and rode home on a Rece Hinds big fly (1). Hinds has both of Dayton's hits, the other being a double.
