There is some tasty starting pitching tonight:

LOUISVILLE 12-21 7:05 PM EDT - Graham Ashcraft (1.63) will toe the rubber for the Bats. It would be nice to see a dominant performance. BIG NEWS: Joey Votto will be making a rehab start tonight for Louisville. https://www.milb.com/louisville/news/reds-all-star-joey-votto-to-begin-rehab-with-bats-tonight

CHATTANOOGA 15-16 7:15 PM EDT - The dirt is that Andrew Abbott will make the start, his first at AA. That is exciting.

DAYTON 21-9 7:05 PM EDT - Another interesting prospect will be making his 2022 debut tonight. Christian Roa is on the mound for the Dragons. Certainly, he is not considered a top-level prospect, but he is someone to keep an eye upon.

DAYTONA 13-18 6:30 PM EDT - To complete the starting pitching bonanza that is going on tonight, Chase Petty (3.20) has gotten the nod for Daytona. The high school fireballer (and shot caller) had made 6 starts, and given up more than one earned run in just one of them. Granted the starts have not been the longest (averaging about 3.2 innings each, but still he is not getting lit up on a regular basis. Take away his one bad start, and his ERA is squint-inducing 1.62.

DAYTONA - Daytona is trailing 4-3 after 4 innings.

It was not the best of outing for young Master Petty as he was behind 3-0 before recording a single out. He settled down after that, but the damage was already done. 4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. He allowed two fly balls to leave the park. He was pitch efficient though (56 pitches in 4 innings). Petty has come out to process the fifth. CORRECTION: Arij Fransen is on in the 5th.

The first 9 Tortugas went down in order, five on strikes. They regrouped the second go-around, and plated 3 runs in the 4th.
Gus Steiger singled. Jay Allen II walked. Jamal O'Guinn also walked. When Michel Triana took one in the ribs, Daytona was on the scoreboard. Steven (or Brandon) Leyton then singled home two more.

CHATTANOOGA - The Lookouts have jumped ahead 3-0 after two.

Andrew Abbott has shut things down for two innings on just 23 pitches. Nice to see. He fanned five over the first two, including 5 straight at one point.

All three of 'Noogas runs have come via the longball.
Byrd Tenerowicz sent a two-run laser (2) over the wall in the first, scoring Isiah Gilliam.
Quin Cotton went solo (2) in the second.

CHATTANOOGA - The score remains the same at 3-0.

Andrew Abbott keeps mowing them down. 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K. Quite the debut.

DAYTON - Dayton fell behind 1-0, but is now storming back. 4 runs in the inning and still batting. 4-1 Dragons.

Christian Roa has given up a run in his 2 innings of work. He has yet to walk a batter, and punched out 5.

Elly De La Cruz doubled and scampered home on a single off the bat of Justice Thompson.
Alex McGarry then homered (11). He has also doubled in the contest.
Rece Hinds doubled and scored the 4th run.

DAYTONA - It looks bleak for the 'Tugas. They are on the short side of an 8-4 ballgame.

Arij Fransen came out of the pen, and wished he hadn't. He was charged with 4 runs across 3 innings.

Daytona actually tied the game at 4 apiece at one point. Walks to Michel Triana and SB Leyton mixed with wild pitch knotted the affair.

Clearwater then dusted Fransen's bottom for the aforementioned 4 runs.

NOTE: Gus Steiger singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. He then came out of the game with some sort of injury.

DAYTONA - It is now 8-5.

Jay Allen II reached second on an error. He went to third on a passed ball. And then scored on a wild pitch. So, there you have it, Daytona's second run of the game without the benefit of a hit.

CHATTANOOGA - The Lookouts now lead 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th.

Andrew Abbott has now struck out 11 in five innings.

Byrd Tenerowicz hit a solo shot (3), his second home run of the game.
