7-21-21 Reds versus Mets

Good to see Aquino get the start in place of Shogo  with Castellanos out. Can Hoffman control walks?  He walked his very first hitter.

Goes to 3 ball count on McNeil but gets him on fly out to CF. And gets the dangerous Alonso on a foul pop up to Votto and Smith on lazy fly to LF.

India HBP and then Winker grounds very weakly into a DP.  Stephenson pops out to Alonso.

Hoffman gives up first row homer to Villar. Would only have been a homer in GAB and Yankee stadium.  You know that drill where they practice taking homers away?

Aquino need to practice that. That ball could have been caught if he had been at the wall. He had plenty of time.

No further damage even though he also gave up a ground ball single.

Hoffman gives up a opposite field single, then a hard single thru the right side, then Alonso lines a hard single. Bases loaded, no outs.

After talk from Johnson, Hoffman gives up another first row, opposite field grand slam homer. 5-0 and this game is probably over.

Reds get a single from Aquino and then go out in order. Including letting Hoffman hit.  I'd have pulled Hoffman, and let Santillan, Garcia, Alaniz take it from here.

Hoffman walks first guy on 5 pitches. Last one go to backstop (ok, there is no actual backstop)

Gets out unscathed.
