Louisville Bats (Game One):

Louisville wasted some excellent pitching in a 1-0 loss to Memphis. The only run given up was in the top of the 7th.

Riley O'Brien started and excelled. 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. Riley has been hot in the month of July, starting 4 games and compiling a 2.25 ERA.
Dauri Moreta was next up and worked 2 scoreless. He has made just 4 appearances since coming up to Louisville, but has yet to give up an earned run.
Phillip Diehl deserved better. He was charged with the unearned run, but struck out 3 in his only inning of work.

Michael De Leon collected 3 of the Bats 6 hits. All six were singles.

NOTE: Cardinal prospect, Matthew Liberatore pitched 6 scoreless innings. He did not walk a batter, while fanning 9.

Had not noticed that O'Brien has had a good month.  Diehl was pitching in the 8th (extra innings) and that's why the run didn't count.

Louisville Game 2 -  Bats lost 4-3.

Bats took a 3-1 lead into the 7th, and handed it to Cionel Perez to close and he got torched. 4 hits and 2 walks in 1/3 of an inning.  Every time time I thinks he's coming around, he does something like this.  Nick Howard saw his first AAA action and had one scoreless inning.

Offensively, no one had more than one hit, but Barerra's hit left the ballpark for his 5th AAA homer and 11th overall.  He's at .309 with .992 OPS.

AA Chattanooga got blasted 17-9.  Any time that happens I always check to make sure it wasn't one of our top prospect pitchers.  It wasn't. Salinas, Wynne and Byrne all had bad nights. Only Demurias came out unscathed in 1 inning.  Has 0.87 ERA.

Offensively, everyone except McAfee at SS had at least one hit, with Yanqui, Hopkins, amd Robinson having 2 and Rey having 3.

Rey started slowly at AAA after tearing up High A, but has now worked himself up to .281 and .713 OPS. In JUly he is hitting .375.  Also nice to see Hopkins keep hitting. Hopkins had a homer and is at .305/.858. All 4 of his homers have been in July.

High A Dayton lost 9-3. Richardson led a string of mediocre pitchers.  Offensively Urbaez had 2 hits, Miguel Hernandez (hit recently) had 2.

Yang had one, and remains above the Suarez line.

Daytona won 7-1.  Parker started and had solid game.

Offensively, De La Cruz the 19 year old just brought up from Arizona had 3 hits (including a homer) and now is at .333 and 1.111 OPS. Marrero, Seminati, Hendrick and Cerda has 2 hits each. Hendrick has shown some signs of life recently.

Vellijoin had 3 hits.  2 of Marrero's hits were homers.
